Aldactone® ampoules are a means of promoting urine flow (potassium-sparing diuretic, aldosterone antagonist).
This medicine will be given to you by a doctor or nurse.
Aldactone® ampoules are used for:
– primary hyperaldosteronism (Conn syndrome; autonomous overproduction of aldosterone in the adrenal gland), unless surgery is indicated.
– diseases with disturbances in electrolyte and fluid balance, where other forms of treatment are inadequate or unsuitable due to hyperaldosteronism:
* Secondary hyperaldosteronism (chronic activation of the renin-angiotension-aldosterone system [RAAS]) in chronic, decompensated heart disease with edema
* Liver cirrhosis with ascites and edema
Intravenous therapy with Aldactone® ampoules is recommended when a rapid onset of action is required or when oral therapy with aldosterone antagonists is not possible, e.g. due to absorption disorders or difficulties in taking the drug (in the case of impaired consciousness).
