Indication:
The medicine contains the active ingredient cyproterone acetate.
The drug is an antiandrogen. The active substance suppresses the influence of male hormones (androgens), which are also produced – to a lesser extent – in the female body.
The medicine is used for severe symptoms of androgenization in women requiring hormonal treatment:
more severe forms of acne, if they are accompanied by inflammation or nodules (papulopustular acne, nodular cystic acne) or there is a risk of scarring,
moderate to severe forms of unnatural increase in hair on the face and body (hirsutism),
moderate to severe forms of androgenic hair loss on the scalp (androgenic alopecia).
If symptoms of androgenization are severe, cyproterone acetate should be taken only if satisfactory results have not been achieved using low doses of drugs containing cyproterone acetate or other treatment methods.
When treating acne, the doctor must compare hormonal treatment with systemic antibiotic therapy.
