Indication:
The drug is a continuous combined hormone replacement therapy (HRT) drug that is taken daily without interruption. The drug is used in postmenopausal women whose last menstrual period (menopause) was at least 1 year ago.
The tablets contain 2 hormones: estradiol 2 mg (estrogen identical to estradiol produced in the ovaries) and norethisterone acetate 1 mg (a progestin that acts similar to the body’s own progesterone (luteal hormone).
The medicine is used for:
Relief of postmenopausal symptoms
During menopause, a woman’s production of her own estrogen decreases. This can cause symptoms such as hot flashes in the face, neck, and chest (called hot flashes). The medicine relieves these symptoms that occur after menopause. You will only be prescribed it if your symptoms significantly affect your daily life.
Prevention of osteoporosis
After menopause, some women’s bones may become brittle (osteoporosis). You should discuss all available treatment options with your doctor. You may use the product to prevent osteoporosis after menopause if you are at increased risk of osteoporosis-related bone fractures and other medications are not suitable for you.
The medicine is prescribed to women whose uterus has not been removed and whose last menstruation was more than 1 year ago.
There is limited experience treating women over 65 years of age with this product.
