Before use
Check the label to make sure it’s the correct type of insulin.
Always check the cartridge, including the rubber plunger at the bottom of the cartridge. Do not use if any damage is visible or if the rubber plunger has gone beyond the white label strip on the bottom of the cartridge. This may be the result of an insulin leak. If you think the cartridge is damaged, return it to the pharmacy. For more information, see the user’s guide that came with your pen.
Always use a new needle for each injection to avoid contamination.
Needles and medicines should not be shared with others.
The drug is only suitable for subcutaneous injection using a reusable pen. Ask your doctor if you need to inject insulin in another way.
Warnings and Precautions
Certain conditions and activities can affect your insulin requirement. Ask your doctor for advice:
if you have kidney, liver, adrenal, pituitary or thyroid problems.
if you exercise more than usual, or if you want to change your usual diet, as this may affect your blood sugar.
if you are sick, continue using insulin and seek the advice of your doctor.
If you are traveling abroad: Traveling across different time zones can affect your insulin needs and the timing of your insulin injections.
Skin changes at the injection site
The injection site should be changed regularly; this can help prevent changes in subcutaneous fat, such as thickening or depression of the skin or bumps under the skin. Insulin may not work properly if you inject into areas with bumps, pits, or bumps. If you notice any skin changes at the injection site, tell your doctor. If you are currently injecting into one of these affected areas, contact your doctor before injecting into another area. Your doctor may recommend that you monitor your blood sugar levels more closely and adjust your dose of insulin or other antidiabetic medications.
Ability to drive and use machines
Please ask your doctor if you can drive or operate machines:
if you have frequent hypoglycemia.
if you find it difficult to notice the signs of low blood sugar.
If your blood sugar is too low or too high, it can affect your concentration and your ability to react, and therefore your ability to drive or use machines. Remember that you can endanger yourself and others.
