indication
Ursodeoxycholic acid, the active ingredient in these capsules, is a natural bile acid. However, it is found only in small amounts in human bile.
The drug is used
To dissolve gallstones, which are made up of cholesterol. Gallstones should not cast shadows on x-ray and should not be larger than 15 mm in diameter. In addition, the gallbladder must function in spite of gallstones.
For the treatment of inflammation of the gastric mucosa due to reflux of bile acids (bile reflux gastritis).
For the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC – a chronic disease of the biliary tract, up to cirrhosis of the liver), in patients without decompensated cirrhosis of the liver (diffuse chronic liver disease, in which the decrease in liver function caused by the disease is no longer compensated for).
For the treatment of liver disease associated with cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis) in children aged 6 to 18 years.
contraindication
The medicine should not be taken if
you are allergic (hypersensitive) to bile acids (such as ursodeoxycholic acid) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
you have acute inflammation of the gallbladder and bile ducts.
Your bile ducts are blocked (obstruction of the bile duct or cystic duct).
You suffer from frequent crampy pains in the upper abdomen (biliary colic).
Your doctor has told you that you have hardened gallstones.
you have a reduced ability of the gallbladder to contract.
Your child has blocked bile ducts and reduced flow of bile even after surgery (bile duct atresia).

To dissolve cholesterol stones in the gallbladder
Approximately 10 mg of ursodeoxycholic acid per kg of body weight (bw) per day, which corresponds to:
up to 60 kg 2 hard capsules
61 – 80 kg 3 hard capsules
81 – 100 kg 4 hard capsules
over 100 kg 5 hard capsules
duration of use
Resolution of gallstones usually takes 6 to 24 months. If gallstones have not decreased in size after 12 months, treatment should not be continued.
The success of the treatment should be checked by a doctor every 6 months. During subsequent examinations, attention should also be paid to whether calcification of gallstones has occurred during this time. If this is the case, your doctor will stop your treatment.
For the treatment of biliary reflux gastritis
Take 1 hard capsule daily in the evening at bedtime with a small amount of liquid.

If you take more than you should
