This medicine contains progesterone, a natural sex hormone produced in the female body. This medicine helps to establish hormonal balance in the body. This medicine is a corpus luteum hormone (progestin) treatment.
What is it used for
It is used for complaints caused by a lack of progesterone in the body. Your doctor may recommend taking this medication in the following situations:
a) with progesterone deficiency
At the same time, progesterone produced by the ovaries (in the corpus luteum phase in the 2nd half of the cycle) is lower than normal. This medicine should be used in the following cases:
for the treatment of menstrual disorders
b) if menstruation stops forever (after menopause)
Adjunctive therapy as part of estrogen treatment during menopause in women with a functional uterus
The medicine cannot be taken
if you have vaginal bleeding of unknown cause,
if you are allergic to progesterone or any other ingredient of this medicine,
if you have severe liver dysfunction,
if you have a liver tumor,
if you have or suspect that you have a malignant tumor of the breast or genital organs,
if you have or have had a blood clot in a vein (thrombosis), for example. B. in the legs (deep vein thrombosis) or in the lungs (pulmonary embolism),
with cerebral hemorrhages,
if you suffer from a rare inherited blood disorder called porphyria.
Always take this medication exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Take for irregular menstruation
You must take this medication for 10 days per cycle; usually from the 17th to the 26th day inclusive.
The recommended daily dose is 200 to 300 mg of progesterone. This dose can be taken as a single dose or as two separate doses, for example. B. 200 mg in the evening before bed and, if necessary, an additional 100 mg in the morning.
Take during treatment after menopause
Postmenopausal women who still have a uterus are not recommended to take estrogen alone.
A single dose of 200 mg progesterone should also be taken in the evening before bedtime for at least 12 to 14 days per month (in the last two weeks of the respective treatment cycle).
This is followed by approximately one week without hormone replacement therapy, during which withdrawal bleeding may occur.
If you took out more money than you should have
Contact your doctor immediately.
In case of overdose, symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, malaise or painful menstruation may occur. In this case, the dose can be reduced. Ask your doctor for advice.
If you forget to take it
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to your next dose, skip the missed dose.
Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.
If you stop taking it
Your doctor will tell you how long you should take this medicine.
Do not stop treatment prematurely.
