Indication:
- This drug is a medicine containing the active ingredient mexiletine.
- Used to treat symptoms of myotonia (slow and difficult muscle relaxation after exertion) in adults with non-dystrophic myotonic disorders caused by a genetic defect affecting muscle function.
Dosage:
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- The recommended starting dose is 1 capsule per day. Depending on how the medicine works for you, your doctor will gradually increase your dose. The maintenance dose is 1 to 3 capsules per day, taken at regular intervals throughout the day.
- Do not take more than 3 capsules per day.
- Checking heart function
- Before you start treatment with this drug and regularly during treatment, we will check how well your heart is working. Depending on your heart function, tests may be needed before and after each dose adjustment. Your doctor will also evaluate your treatment regularly to make sure this product continues to be the best treatment for you.
- If you took more than you should
- Talk to your doctor if you take more than the recommended dose. This can be very harmful to your health. You or your partner should see a doctor immediately if you feel tingling in your arms and legs, if you feel like you can’t think clearly or concentrate, if you have hallucinations or seizures, if you feel like your heart is beating slower, if you feel dizzy and lose consciousness if you faint or if your heart stops beating.
